Your first conversation
Type, press Enter — then learn to read everything that arrives before the answer does.
Type a message and press Enter. That is the whole ceremony.
This page is about the other half: reading what comes back. A turn from a companion has more in it than a block of text, and every piece is there to tell you something about how the answer was made.
Sending#
Enter sends. Shift + Enter starts a new line.
You can attach images — up to four per message — with the attach button, or by simply pasting one from your clipboard. Screenshots work. Other file types do not attach; images only.
While it is working#
The companion is never silently at work. Under the conversation, a line tells you what it is doing right now, and it changes as the turn goes:

At the same time, the send button becomes a stop square. Press it and the turn ends there. Whatever the companion had already said stays where it is — stopping is not undoing.
Reading the turn#
Top to bottom, a turn can contain these, and each is worth knowing:
Your message, with any images above the text.
A 🧠 badge under your message. This is the memory the companion pulled for this message, before it answered. It reads like 3 memories, sometimes with a 🪞 and a number after it. Click it and it opens into the list of what it actually found, each with its name, its kind, and how well it matched.
This badge is the difference between an answer that sounds like it knows you and one that does.

Tool pills, one per thing the companion did. Each carries a verb in the past tense once it lands — searched, read, wrote to — the thing it acted on, how long it took, and a small orb showing whether it worked. Pills appear both above and below the reply, depending on when in the turn the companion did the work.

A "Thought process" disclosure, when the model supplied its reasoning. It is collapsed by default and says Thinking… while it is still arriving. Open it if you want to see the working; leave it shut if you don't.
The answer, as ordinary formatted text.
Note
Memory work never appears as a tool pill, on purpose. When a companion recalls or writes a memory, the only sign is the presence line saying remembering. It is meant to feel like remembering rather than like filing.
Two things worth knowing early#
The view follows the answer, until you don't want it to. The conversation stays pinned to the newest text as it streams — but the moment you scroll up, it stops and stays where you put it. Scroll back down and it starts following again. Nothing yanks the page out from under you mid-sentence.
/sleep is not a message. Send it on its own and the companion reads the conversation back and
distils what is worth keeping into memory. It is the manual version of something it usually does by
itself.
