Chat
The shell, the composer, and everything the app tells you while a companion is working.
The app is three screens and one sidebar. Chat is where you spend the time.
The shell#
Down the left: New conversation, then the two views — Chat and Memory — then Recent, a list of the conversations you have had. Settings sits at the bottom.
Across the top of the chat view is the conversation's name, and a row of tabs if you have more than one conversation open.
The composer#
The box at the bottom says Message Companion… and holds four controls around it.
Attach images. Up to four per message. PNG, JPEG, WebP and GIF. You can also paste an image straight from the clipboard, which is the fastest way to show a companion a screenshot. Anything over 20 MB is refused (5 MB for a GIF), and each pending image sits above the box as a thumbnail with an × to remove it.
Emoji. Inserts into your message text.
The companion picker. Which companion is listening. Change it and the conversation continues with a different mind — and lands in that companion's memory from then on.
Send — which becomes Stop while a turn is running. Same place, square instead of an arrow.
Under the box, one line of status. Most of the time it reads Your conversations stay in your private workspace. When something has just happened it says that instead — Stopped. after you halt a turn, or a note from the sleeper.
The presence line#
While a companion works, a line at the end of the thread says which of four things it is doing: remembering, working, writing, or thinking. It disappears the instant the turn lands.
It exists so that a long pause is never ambiguous. A companion that is quiet for eight seconds because it is reading three files looks different from one that is quiet because it is thinking.
What a turn contains#
A turn is your message plus everything the companion did before you spoke again.
- Your message, with any images and the 🧠 recall badge showing what memory was consulted for it
- Tool pills for each thing the companion did, above or below the reply depending on when it happened → Tools
- A collapsible Thought process, when the model provided one
- The reply itself
- A call card, if the companion phoned another companion mid-turn → Calls and mail
→ Your first conversation walks through one of these in order.
Scrolling#
The thread follows new text as it arrives, and stops following the moment you scroll up. Scrolling back to the bottom re-arms it. Jumps are instant rather than animated — a smooth scroll during a streaming answer leaves you parked in the wrong place.
Opening a conversation from the sidebar puts you at its most recent message, not at the top of its history.
An empty conversation#
A fresh conversation shows the Semantix mark and nothing else. There is no prompt, no suggested questions, no starter cards. It is a blank page on purpose.
/sleep#
Typed on its own and sent, /sleep is not a message to the companion — it tells it to read the
conversation back and distil what is worth keeping into memory. Useful at the end of a session that
mattered.
If there is nothing to work with yet, it says so: There is nothing to sleep yet — say something first.
